Incentives and Business Assistance AvailableRevolving Loan Fund - The city can make low interest loans to help with new business start-ups or existing businesses. The funds can be used as working capital, equipment purchases, or for property acquisitions.
Historic Preservation Tax Credits - The owners of buildings in the downtown district may qualify for a tax credit if they rehabilitate thier historic structures. A 20% federal tax credit and a 5% state credit may be available.
Design Review Assistance- The city has developed design guidelines to assist in the rehabilitation or restoration of buildings in the downtown area. The City's Design Review Board can provide recommendations to building owners who deisre to improve their exterior facades.
Business Assistance- A numner of resources are available to both existing and prospective business owners. The UW-Extension, the Small Business Development Center as well as the Port Washington Business Improvement District provide services such as business planning and financial management.
